What used to be a pattern associated with country style, vintage, but also… tablecloths ;-) is today an inevitable part of every fashionistas’ closet. The gingham! You can see it everywhere lately! Even I already wrote about it in one of my Closet Doors posts from New York. :-) However, it seems to me that all the clothing styles with this pattern for the Summer are either very casual, super youthful or just very sweet. Now, I think there is a way to incorporate this lovely print into every style and occasion, without looking a bit like Dorothy form the Wizard of Oz, or as if you’re already in vacation mode. ;-) Here are my suggestion, darlings.
1. Office plaid
I have to say that my favorite color of gingham pattern is still white & blue – an absolute classic. <3 However, when I wear it to the office, I avoid pairing this print with very extravagant clothing styles. They have to be rather simple, clean and professional and I let the checks “do the fashion talk” ;-)
That’s why I chose a classical pencil skirt (although with a bit higher front slit). I wanted it to be the “star of the outfit”, that’s why the other pieces are in a darker shade of blue. The crochet blouse is cropped and the blazer has a navy-feel due to the golden buttons.
The bag is a timeless tote (and is two-faced ;-) and the shoes… well, they are the only part of the outfit kind of “fighting” with the gingham skirt over a place in the spotlight. But I personally think, that the skirt won. ;-)

2. Rockabilly vibe
Gingham doesn’t only have to be cute and super feminine – it can also have a bit of a “rock n’ roll vibe”. The way to pull that off is to go back to the 50s, get inspired and go “old-school” by adding a rockabilly touch to your style.
I love this shirt, because it has a rather unusual color for a plaid print – green & white. I think it’s totally casual-smart and it goes perfectly with leather jacket & boyfriend jeans. And since just I can’t deny my feminine side, I had to add a pair of green pumps to round it up. ;-) Saw the bag from the previous outfit? Guess what – that’s the other side. ;-)

3. Casual & romantic
“Free your shoulders” is the motto of this year and gingham is also a part of that “fashion story”. I really adore the “off the shoulder” tops and also the fact, that they go so well hand in hand with another very popular style of this season – the bell, or flare sleeves.
It’s a perfect weekend, leisure and holiday style. Since my holiday is just around the corner, but still there is so much to do, I definitely needed something to wear, to slowly but surely bring me into the “vacation mode”. This sweet and comfy red and white gingham blouse by Zaful was a perfect choice. You can wear it to a grill party, a coffee with your girlfriends, or a weekend lunch with your man… everything that has a pinch of fun in it goes well with this cutie. ;-) Isn’t it WUNDERBAR?
The rest of the outfit is optional. I went with black skinny jeans, a two-toned mini-bag and comfy loafers. But you can go with a sandals and a white skirt, or black culottes and mules… this flare sleeve checked blouse goes with so many styles.
